Corporate Communications Aware of Podcasting but It is Rarely Used or Listened to, Says New Dallas/IABC Quick Poll.

The monthly online poll is conducted by the Dallas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is a leading association for public relations professionals. IABC has about 14,000 members in more than 100 chapters in 70 countries.

The survey, which ran mid-March to mid-April, asked more than 300 communicators in Dallas the question, "How do you use podcasting?". Podcasting is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to Verb 1. subscribe to - receive or obtain regularly; "We take the Times every day"

 chapters throughout Texas, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico New Mexico, state in the SW United States. The survey, which included 109 respondents In the context of marketing research, a representative sample drawn from a larger population of people from whom information is collected and used to develop or confirm marketing strategy. , says:

--23 percent of respondents say they have listened--or have subscribed--to a podcast

--61 percent of respondents say they have not listened to a podcast but are aware of them

--8 percent said they or their company have published a podcast

--Another 8 percent responded, "What is a podcast?"

"This clearly shows that podcasting remains a communications tool for early adopters," said Roy Miller, president of Dallas/IABC. "It is surprising to see there are local organizations and individuals within Dallas/IABC--based on the 8 percent response--that are publishing podcasts."

Some of the most popular podcasts for corporate communicators include "For Immediate Release: The Hobson and Holtz Report," "Spinfluencer" and "iPressRoom." These podcasts and more are easily found at www.podcastalley.com.

The Dallas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators conducts a monthly online Quick Poll on its Web site, www.dallasiabc.com, and invites communicators to respond to the poll. It is an interactive Web site feature that provides a timely snapshot (1) A saved copy of memory including the contents of all memory bytes, hardware registers and status indicators.
