Corporate Changes.

Life/health insurers are changing their names to build brand.

The trend of life/health insurers changing names to build corporate branding slowed by nearly half in 2000, with 24 companies changing names to reflect affiliations with larger, more well-known companies. This year's corporate changes study, based on filings and A.M. Best Co. data, also shows fewer mergers in the life/health industry in 2000--17 companies--while nine companies ceased operations and 10 redomesticated. All changes occurred in 2000, unless noted otherwise.
