In a show of support for New York City, corporate real estate executives from leading firms are joining forces to express their commitment to the city's long-term success.

The New York chapters of the International Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives (NACORE) and International Development Research Council (TDRC) - the soon-to-be-merged organizations which will be known as CoreNet Global - have launched an effort to demonstrate civic support by the 600 firms that will comprise the new organization.

In the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks, the new campaign, called "Shoulder to Shoulder with New York City," will provide the city with a much-needed sign of encouragement from the corporate sector.

NACORE and IDRC are the leading voices for corporate real estate executives in the New York region. Members are responsible for their company's real estate decision-making process. Many NACORE/IDRC members already have been working, through a diverse assortment of corporate activities, to help the city recover from the terrible events of Sept. 11. Now these same corporate real estate leaders have joined forces in a demonstration of support for the Big Apple.

"This strong statement from the people within those companies who are on the frontline of making real estate decisions bodes well for the city's future," said Gerard J. Vanella, co-chair of NACORE/CoreNet Global.

The "Shoulder to Shoulder" campaign will culminate at CoreNet Global's Eleventh Annual Tri-State Dinner, which also will acknowledge the corporate real estate community and the ongoing efforts of the entire real estate industry. The event, a portion of the proceeds of which will go to relief charities, will take place on March 7 at Pier 60, Chelsea Piers, beginning at 5:30 p.m. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the dinner.
