) initiated an action today in Federal District Court against Highwave Optical Technologies of Lannion, France for patent infringement patent infringement n. the manufacture and/or use of an invention or improvement for which someone else owns a patent issued by the government, without obtaining permission of the owner of the patent by contract, license or waiver. . The complaint identifies Highwave as infringing a Corning patent involved in the design and manufacture of photonic optical fiber.

"Today's action is part of an ongoing effort to enforce our intellectual property rights.
