Corning Announces Pyrex Bakeware Manufacturing Expansion.

), today announced that it will expand its Pyrex glass bakeware manufacturing operations Manufacturing operations concern the operation of a facility, as opposed to maintenance, supply and distribution, health, and safety, emergency response, human resources, security, information technology and other infrastructural support organizations.  at Corning s Greenville, Ohio, plant. The expansion is in response to growing demand for the Pyrex brand, one of the company s oldest and best known.

The $4.2 million expansion is expected to increase the Pyrex bakeware production by 40 percent in the Greenville factory and 16 percent overall for the brand s clear-glass segment. Launched by Corning in 1915 as the world s first glass bakeware, Pyrex products manufactured today at Greenville include measuring cups, sculptured bakeware, and other bakeware and preparation products.

Our plant is delighted to be involved in this expansion of the Pyrex ware business, said Plant Manager Debbie Samelson. The Pyrex team has made great strides in manufacturing efficiencies and quality improvement over the past few years. Those efforts are now paying off. We expect to add approximately 20 new positions to the factory by the time the new installation is ready to come on-line in November 1995.

Added Corey Ball, product manager for the Pyrex bakeware line: We have been successful in our efforts to develop new products and revitalize the Pyrex brand. We need this additional manufacturing capacity to better serve customers.

Corning's Greenville plant also manufactures components for the automotive and lighting markets. Corning Consumer Products Company manufactures and markets Pyrex bakeware, Corning Ware and Visions glass-ceramic cookware, Revere Revere, city (1990 pop. 42,786), Suffolk co., E Mass., a residential suburb of Boston, on Massachusetts Bay; settled c.1630, set off from Chelsea and named for Paul Revere 1871, inc. as a city 1914.  Ware metal cookware, and Corelle dinnerware products worldwide.
