Cornice Inc., an innovator in compact, low-cost, high-capacity storage, today announced the appointment of Mike Wingert as President and Chief Operating Officer. Wingert comes to Cornice from Maxtor where he was Executive Vice President & General Manager, Server Products Group. Wingert will oversee factory operations, product development, materials procurement, and quality assurance for Cornice.

Wingert will report directly to Kevin Magenis, Cornice's co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. The two previously worked together at Maxtor, where they both guided the development and introduction of over two dozen successful storage products within a six-year period.

Michael Wingert has over 22 years of data storage industry experience. He has spent the past 10 years with Maxtor Corporation, where he held executive-level positions in engineering and general management. As Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Server Products Group, Mike had responsibility for all product development, quality, materials procurement, operations, marketing, finance and management of the Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, site. During his tenure at Maxtor, he had an important role in the company's consistent development and introduction of over twenty-five successful products in the desktop and enterprise product areas. The products he managed included Maxtor's first disk drives using magneto-resistive (MR) and giant magneto-resistive (GMR) head technologies, as well as Maxtor's first 7,200rpm and 15,000rpm drives.
