STAMFORD, Conn.,--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 1999--

Norman H. Reader, President, announced that the Board of Directors Of Cornerstone Bancorp, Inc. (AMEX AMEX

:CBN CBN - call-by-name )(the 'Bancorp') declared, at its regularly scheduled meeting, a quarterly cash dividend of $0.06 per share, payable on October 15, 1999, to stockholders of record as of the close of business on September 30, 1999.

This dividend follows a regular dividend of $0.06 per share paid on January 15, April 15 and July 15, 1999 and a special dividend of $0.18 per share paid on February 19, 1999.

In Connecticut, Cornerstone Bancorp operates from four full service locations in Stamford, one full service location in Greenwich and Norwalk as well as three limited service mobile branches. Cornerstone Bancorp's common stock is traded on the American Stock Exchange American Stock Exchange (AMEX)
