The seminar theme will be the "Future of High Performance Computing with Windows." Kevin Libert, a director from Dell Computer's Enterprise Server Group, will open the event by discussing high performance cluster computing in the enterprise. George Spix, Director of Advanced Systems at Microsoft, will follow with Microsoft's new high performance computing initiatives. Microsoft recently developed a computational clustering technical preview toolkit with the software, tools, and libraries needed to build Windows clusters and applications. Cluster technology roadmaps will be detailed by several industry leaders. Justin Rattner, Intel Fellow and Director of Intel's Microprocessor Technology Research Lab, will outline future IA-32 and IA-64 technologies. Microsoft's Edmund Muth will discuss clustering with .NET services and David Follett, Chief Technical Officer of Giganet, will present "Building Computing Clusters Over High Performance VI Networks." Case studies will be presented as well. The Cornell Theory Center will discuss successes with large-scale technical computing clusters as well as systems used for census data mining and bioinformatics. David Yeger, First Vice President of Merrill Lynch, will detail his company's new data management cluster in the "High Performance Computing for the Financial Industry" presentation. Manulife Wood Logan's Chief Technical Officer, Charles Cortese, will discuss clusters for eCustomer Relationship Management. A speaker's panel will complete the day. The March 22 seminar is targeted toward senior executives, IT directors, and HPC (Handheld PC) A palmtop computer that weighs less than one pound and runs specialized versions of popular applications.
