Cornbelt NAMA. (National Ag Day).
Cornbelt NAMA took part in the Cedar Rapids Cedar Rapids, city (1990 pop. 108,751), seat of Linn co., E central Iowa, on the Cedar River; inc. as a city 1856. The second largest city in Iowa, it is named for the surging rapids in the river. It is a commercial and industrial city as well as a distribution and rail center for an extensive agricultural area. Manufactures include food and beverages, electrical equipment, machinery, and metal and plastic products. Coe College and Mt. Mercy College are there. 17th Annual Celebration of Agriculture Dinner on March 20, 2003. It was an evening of networking, education and philanthropy. The goal of the dinner was to demonstrate the strength of farming and agribusiness and its impact on the economic well-being of the Cedar Rapids Area.
Members of the ag community in and around Cedar Rapids attended the dinner, which featured Catherine Woteki, Dean of the College of Agriculture at Iowa State University as the keynote speaker.
