Corio, Inc. today announced a landmark for the application service provider (ASP asp, popular name for several species of viper, one of which, the European asp (Vipera aspis), is native to S Europe. It is also a name for the Egyptian cobra (Naja haja). ) industry with its unveiling of the Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM).

Corio has developed a modular solution featuring pre-integrated business applications and services from leading vendors. The Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM) extends to every functional area of a business. As announced separately today, Corio has signed partnerships with BroadVision, Cognos and Commerce One to enable eBusiness, decision support and business-to-business e-procurement capabilities respectively within the Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM). This trail-blazing model puts a stake in the ground as to what customers should expect from the next generation of ASP offerings. Customers access a single application or any combination of applications in the Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM) for a monthly fee. There is no need to address the technology challenges that come with selecting front-office, back-office and eBusiness applications from multiple vendors. The Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM) offers each of the applications from a common technology platform eliminating the need to integrate each application for each customer. The applications are integrated once and deployed everywhere resulting in the lowest possible total coast of ownership (TCO (1) (Total Cost of Ownership) The cost of using a computer. It includes the cost of the hardware, software and upgrades as well as the cost of the inhouse staff and/or consultants that provide training and technical support. See ROI. ) for customers.

"Corio's ability to offer an integrated group of applications for each functional area of my business is very powerful," said Virender Ahuwalia, head of finance at Corio customer Vertical Networks. "With access to applications from BroadVision, Cognos, Commerce One, PeopleSoft and Siebel Systems, we have a complete IT infrastructure that can support and spur our growth."

The technology platform powering the Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM), called Orion, is based on technology tools including Active Software, Netegrity and others and has been enhanced by Corio's own engineering organization. Additionally, Orion offers a simplified interface through single sign-on An identification system that lets users log into multiple Web sites on the Internet with one username and password. In partnering with the market leaders in their respective categories, the Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM) offers the most comprehensive capability to any type of customer, allowing them to scale as growth demands. No one vendor can provide the business capabilities that a company needs across all functional areas. Subsequently, solutions from different vendors are required and a business is forced to invest significant amounts of time and money to integrate and manage the applications in an increasingly complex

environment. The Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM) eliminates this pain by pre-integrating the applications and services and offering them over a secure network, managed by Corio, for a monthly fee.

The Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM) is managed at Corio's Application Management Center. When the independent software vendors (ISVs) issue modifications or new releases, Orion, greatly simplifies the associated upgrade path.

and solve a customer's real technology problems, not simply host a single application. Our deep roots in the applications business combined with our world class management and engineering teams allow us to push the boundaries of the ASP industry. By introducing the Corio Intelligent Enterprise(TM), we have succeeded in establishing the bar by which prospective customers should measure an ASP."
