Founded in June 1985 by Dr. Michael Cowpland, Corel Corporation was originally a systems integration company.  and I. Hoffmann + Associates Inc. of Toronto announced an agreement today providing for the sale of Corel's Corel(R) Medical Series software line to Hoffmann + Associates (H + A). All seven titles in the Corel Medical Series, as well as all titles currently under development will be included in the deal.

The Corel Medical Series is a line of multimedia CDs that provides comprehensive information to medical professionals, patients, their families, and the public. Using the power of multimedia, the titles combine text, graphics, pictures, videos, and three-dimensional models to provide a detailed review of the subject.

By combining the expertise of medical practitioners, researchers, and educators with the power of today's computer technology, the Corel Medical Series creates a unique learning tool that is as comprehensive as a text book and as informative as a lecture with the advantages of being highly interactive and self-paced. As part of the deal, Corel will acquire a minority interest in Hoffmann + Associates, as well as an ongoing royalty stream over a time period. Many terms of the agreement will be similar to those negotiated in last months' sale of the Corel(R) CD HOME COLLECTION to H + A.
