Corel Corporation, an internationally recognized developer of award-winning graphics and business productivity applications and Micrografx, Inc., a global leader in enterprise graphics software, today announced a joint settlement to a lawsuit filed in January 1998 by Micrografx against Corel. The settlement has no material impact on either company.

The suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas The United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas (N.D. The court convenes in Dallas, Texas. , stated that Corel had infringed Micrografx's copyright in the design of Corel's greeting card software. In April, 1998, the District Court denied Micrografx's request for preliminary injunctive relief injunctive relief n. a court-ordered act or prohibition against an act or condition which has been requested, and sometimes granted, in a petition to the court for an injunction.  against Corel, a decision which was on appeal at the time the settlement was reached. Micrografx has since signed agreements with The Learning Company, transferring distribution and other rights of the product line in question. Corel has no plans to change the content of any affected product.
