As part of the Jordan Education Initiative panel, Mehta will join a distinguished team of speakers, including K.M. King Abdullah II Ibn Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Carol Bellamy, Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund and John Chambers, President and CEO of Cisco Systems. Two years ago, leaders from the IT and telecommunications industry launched the Jordan Education Initiative (JEI), one of the world's leading public private partnership programs in education transformation. The goal of the JEI focused on transforming Jordan's education system based on sustainable and replicable private/public sector partnerships. Today, considerable progress has been made:more than $15 million has been directed to the JEI, resulting in new curricula in Math, Science, Arabic, ICT and English, supported by complementary training and in-classroom technology programs. This panel discussion will focus on the lessons learned since the JEI was founded in 2003 as well as next steps that must be taken to further the evolution and growth of the program.

The Solving The Digital Divide panel will share the progress of the "IT Access For Everyone" (ITAFE) initiative, which was launched byIT and telecommunications leaders and members of the World Economic Forum last year.In 2004, the ITAFE pledged to bridge the digital divide bydeveloping a low cost, wireless Internet enabled device for the developing world, with Brazil as the initial target market.As part of this working breakfast session, Mehta will join a distinguished panel that includes Nicholas Negroponte, Co-Founder and Chairman, The MIT Media Lab and Wiesner Professor of Media Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Jean-Philippe Courtois, Chief Executive Officer, Microsoft Europe, Middle East and Africa and France, and; Hector Ruiz, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

At the World Economic Forum, over 2000 members participate in an intensive five-day program of workshops and interview-style panel discussions that focus on crucial global, regional and industry issues.Participants include heads of state or government, business leaders, members of civil society organizations, media, academics, scientists and policy-makers.
