Corel Announces Prices for Upcoming WordPerfect Office 2000 - Productivity Suite Offers Performance, Compatibility at a Compelling Price.

An upgrade version of WordPerfect Office A suite of office applications for Windows from Corel that includes WordPerfect, Quattro Pro, Corel Presentations, Paradox and CorelCENTRAL (PIM, scheduling, etc.). It is the successor to Corel WordPerfect Suite, which was the successor to Corel Office.  2000 Standard Edition, which includes the four integrated core applications, WordPerfect 9, Quattro(r) Pro 9, Corel(r) Presentations(tm) 9 and CorelCENTRAL(tm) 9, will be available for a suggested retail price of US $109 (1).

An upgrade of the Voice-Powered Edition, featuring Dragon NaturallySpeaking(tm) and Corel Print Office(tm), will be sold for a suggested retail price of US $159 (1). WordPerfect Office 2000 Professional Edition, which includes all the features of the Voice-Powered Edition plus NetPerfect(r) (formerly code-named NetDocs) and Paradox(r) 9, will be available for a suggested retail price of US $209 (1).

Those entitled to purchase the upgrade version of WordPerfect Office 2000 include: registered users of any version of WordPerfect(r), Corel(r) Office Professional, CorelDRAW(tm) 8, Corel VENTURA A Windows desktop publishing program from Corel. It is a full-featured program suited for producing books and other long documents and includes several graphics functions from CorelDRAW. Corel VENTURA was formerly Ventura Publisher, developed by a company that was later acquired by Xerox. (tm) 8 or any word processor, spreadsheet or office suite (standard or professional) from Microsoft, Lotus, Novell or Borland.

"This suite offers a fully integrated, compatible office solution and is of tremendous value," said Jim Orban, Corel's executive vice president of marketing. "When you consider the performance and features offered in WordPerfect Office 2000, we are confident that our customers will be very impressed."

Those who do not qualify for an upgrade can purchase a full version of WordPerfect Office 2000 Standard Edition for a suggested retail price of US $399 (1). The Voice-Powered Edition will be sold for a suggested retail price of US $449 (1) and WordPerfect Office 2000 Professional Edition will be available for a suggested retail price of US $499 (1).

"Corel's aggressive value-pricing sends an especially strong message at a time when Microsoft, the category leader, has been nudging its own suite prices steadily upward."
