CoreStreet Receives Lenel Certification.

Card-Connected Locking Solution Dramatically Reduces Cost of Securing Access Points and is Now Available for Use with OnGuard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- CoreStreet, the leader in credential validation solutions, today announced that it has received Lenel factory certification for its Card-Connected solution, a breakthrough new electronic locking system that integrates seamlessly with the OnGuard([R]) security management platform at a fraction of the cost of traditional wired doors. This certification formalizes CoreStreet's membership in the Lenel OpenAccess([TM]) Alliance Program.

Card-Connected technology uses strong cryptography Strong cryptography or cryptographically strong are general terms applied cryptographic systems or components that are considered highly resistant to cryptanalysis.  to extend central access control to standalone doors and mobile locks, at a fraction of the cost of wired doors. Within a CoreStreet-Enabled([TM]) access control system, standalone electronic locks and physical access control systems communicate by reading and writing digitally signed Any message or key that has been encrypted with a digital signature. When a user's public key is digitally signed by a certification authority (CA), it is known as a digital certificate or digital ID. The following tables list smart cards used for public transportation and other electronic purse applications. . In this way, cardholders become an extension of the physical access network, where cards, instead of wires, carry information to and from the standalone locks.

"CoreStreet has completed the required factory testing of the Card-Connected solution to validate the functionality of its interface to the two most recent releases of OnGuard. This solution is the first to take such complete advantage of the comprehensive feature set offered by both the OnGuard DataConduIT([TM]) API (Application Programming Interface) A language and message format used by an application program to communicate with the operating system or some other control program such as a database management system (DBMS) or communications protocol.  and the OpenDevice([TM]) API," said Joshua E. Phillips, Director of Marketing at Lenel.

OnGuard solutions offer unlimited scalability and have been implemented by major organizations worldwide, including government agencies, healthcare and educational institutions and commercial enterprises. Lenel established the Lenel OpenAccess Alliance Program to enable its customers to easily interface their OnGuard systems with third-party technologies, which now include Card-Connected solutions.

"CoreStreet's patent-pending Card-Connected technology applies industry-proven cryptography to provide the highest level of assurance to customers."

Organizations planning to expand or upgrade their access control systems can now install Card-Connected products such as the E-Plex 5900 locks produced by Kaba, a leading global provider of electronic and mechanical lock systems. The Card-Connected locks require no wiring or panel infrastructure, so installation and equipment costs are significantly reduced. The system is also significantly more efficient to operate and maintain than traditional offline electronic locking systems because the locks are configured, managed, and monitored using OnGuard, and they do not require frequent visits by security personnel to update access lists and retrieve logs.

Card-Connected solutions are available to OnGuard users through Securitas Systems and other authorized OnGuard value-added resellers A value-added reseller (VAR) is a company that adds some feature(s) to an existing product(s), then resells it (usually to end-users) as an integrated product or complete "turn-key" solution. . "Corporate security officers want to secure more locations and assets, but the cost of installation and wiring has limited electronic access control to about 1 in every 10 access points. Card-Connected solutions give the industry a new way to increase labor productivity and secure more facilities," said Marty Guay, COO at Securitas Security Systems.
