CoreData's RemoteWorx Selected by State of Ohio Office of the Auditor For Backup and Asset Management of their Mobile Workforce; Automation and Centralized Control Cited as Key Benefits.

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 7, 1998--CoreData Inc. Tuesday announced that its RemoteWorx(TM) remote and mobile data backup software See backup program.

(tool, software) backup software - Software for doing a backup, often included as part of the operating system.

Backup software should provide ways to specify what files get backed up and to where.
has been selected by the State of Ohio Office of the Auditor to provide automated data backup and asset management for their remote and mobile auditor workforce that currently reaches nearly 1,000 users.

The Office of the Auditor is the second largest auditing agency in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. .

"Until we started using RemoteWorx, we had no viable means to backup critical data from our growing base of remote and mobile auditing professionals," said William Myers For other persons named William Myers, see William Myers (disambiguation).

RemoteWorx detects and transmits only the specific bytes of changed data for each file. This automated backup process is performed off-line, without user intervention or server connection. Data packets are prepared, then transmitted invisibly to the RemoteWorx Server via automatic detection of an IP connection while users check e-mail or access other network resources.

This automatic and invisible processing ensures fast and efficient backups, lowers data transmission costs and increases system administrator efficiency. RemoteWorx is the only remote and mobile backup solution that includes asset management, a valuable tool for tracking software and hardware configuration changes to remote and mobile PCs.

RemoteWorx integrates with the Office of the Auditor's IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  ADSM (ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager) The former name of a comprehensive software system for backup, HSM and disaster recovery from IBM.  management and control of their auditor workforce," said Gary Legner, CoreData co-founder and vice president of sales.

"They need the most efficient tools for pre-configuring and loading software on laptops in the field, initiating and controlling the backup processes, and automatically distribute software and data updates to their auditors. To meet these requirements, they've chosen RemoteWorx, Auto Client Installer and RemoteSync."

RemoteSync is a plug-in module to RemoteWorx software that provides high performance 'byte-level' data synchronization Keeping data in two or more computers up-to-date so that each repository contains the identical information. Data in handheld devices and laptops often require synchronization with the data in a desktop machine or server. . The Office of the Auditor plans to use RemoteSync to keep remote users automatically and completely updated with the most recent data, and for software application distribution and maintenance.

CoreData also develops OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  technology that can be integrated with other industry-leading products. CoreData's products are optimized for remote and mobile users by minimizing the amount of data transmitted between remote PC clients and networked servers.

This optimization is achieved using CoreData's patent-pending byte-level change detection technology. CoreData provides remote and mobile users with fast, "automatic and invisible" data protection. For IT managers, CoreData provides centralized data management and control, and client PC asset discovery and reporting. For more information, contact CoreData Inc. Telephone: 602/437-6575.
