. Under the terms of this partnership Corbis will become the exclusive licensor of digital Warhol artwork on a global basis.

When Andy Warhol died he left a vast inventory of works of art and personal possessions. His will dictated that his entire estate would contribute to creating a foundation dedicated to the advancement of the visual arts. As a result, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts was established in 1987. It fulfills Andy Warhol's vision by giving financial grants to arts organizations with funds raised from the licensed use and sale of Warhol's work.

"When the foundation sought a suitable partner to facilitate the licensing and use of Warhol artwork, Corbis was a natural fit," said Martin Cribbs, director of licensing for the Andy Warhol Foundation. "Corbis has the most experienced and capable rights clearance team in the industry. In addition to enabling its advertising and editorial clients to license Warhol's imagery, Corbis can also clear rights for commercial use of Warhol work in a matter of hours. This was the key reason that we chose to collaborate with Corbis."

"Warhol is uniquely powerful in both commercial and artistic uses, bringing instant recognition and attributes like originality o·rig·i·nal·i·ty
