CorVu(TM)'s Automated Balanced Scorecard Analytic

Application and Hyperion Essbase Allows Customers

Analyze Business Performance

CorVu Corporation, the leading international provider of Business Intelligence, Performance Management and Balanced Scorecard applications today delivered a Balanced Scorecard analytic application integrated with Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server from Hyperion Solutions Corporation (Nasdaq:HYSL), a leading provider of analytic application software for reporting, analysis, modeling and planning.

Companies worldwide now have the ability to leverage the performance, scalability and analytical power of Hyperion Essbase with critical financial and business measures in CorVu's Balanced Scorecard solution to deliver the wide business performance view provided by a balanced scorecard application. The Balanced Scorecard methodology focuses on providing a broader view of a company's overall performance by integrating financial measures with other corporate indicators including customer satisfaction, company growth and innovation, and internal processes. While an estimated 60 percent of Fortune 500 customers already use balanced scorecards to track their business performance, only a small portion of those are automated balanced scorecard solutions. Demand for such solutions is growing rapidly.

"As a leader in providing Balanced Scorecard Solutions and Performance Management solutions, CorVu has been focused on providing our customers with a complete view of their company's performance," said Alan Missroon, CorVu's vice president of Marketing, "Integrating CorVu applications with Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server allows customers to leverage the value of information across the organization. It also provides an automated, enterprise solution for our customers to manage and improve their business performance."

"The integration of CorVu's performance measurement and balanced scorecard solutions with Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server is an important milestone in the rapidly growing market for analytic applications," said Steve Fioretti, director of Alliance Marketing at Hyperion Solutions. "Our combined solution leverages the analytical power of Hyperion Essbase with CorVu's comprehensive Balanced Scorecard methodology, delivering a compelling analytic application that helps customers drive business performance."

About the Balanced Scorecard

Dr. Robert Kaplan and Dr. David Norton introduced their business performance methodology called the Balanced Scorecard in their 1992 Harvard Business Review article, "The Balanced Scorecard - Measures that Drive Performance." This methodology focuses on a business's ability to track multiple key performance indicators (KPI's) simultaneously to gauge the performance of their strategic business plans. The balanced scorecard method recognizes four dimensions that are integral to developing an enterprise view of performance; financial, customer, internal and innovation. Creating a scorecard requires that a company translates their mission statement and strategy into specific goals and measurements. These goals and measurements are filtered throughout the entire organization for managers to use as they work toward their own goals.
