CorSolutions to Begin Enrolling Beneficiaries in Landmark Medicare Demonstration to Validate Effectiveness of Disease Management.

CorSolutions Medical Inc., the nation's leading provider of health intelligence and solutions, has been awarded a Coordinated Care Demonstration Project by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The program will establish the value of integrated chronic care management for Medicare beneficiaries with heart failure.

The Demonstration Project represents the first opportunity for traditional fee-for-service Medicare recipients to have access to disease management. CorSolutions will begin identifying eligible participants from Houston, Texas in June 2002. Approximately 100 physicians and 1,750 of their patients will take part in the Demonstration Project over the next four years.

Currently, Medicare policy limits coordinated care benefits, such as disease management, only to those enrolled in Medicare + Choice plans. The goal of the Demonstration Project is to show that disease management can effectively deliver health benefits without increasing net cost to the Medicare program. Participating physicians will direct the plan of care for beneficiaries in CorSolutions' disease management program.
