CorSolutions Awarded Second Medicare Disease Management Demonstration.

CorSolutions(R) Medical, Inc., the nation's leading provider of health intelligence and solutions, has been selected by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS, formerly HCFA) to participate in a landmark disease management demonstration project for Louisiana beneficiaries in traditional fee-for-service Medicare.

CorSolutions will provide disease management services for beneficiaries in a region of Louisiana that includes Shreveport, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. Scheduled to launch in 2003, the demonstration will service those with heart failure (HF), diabetes, and coronary artery disease (CAD). With the award of this second Medicare demonstration project, CorSolutions continues to validate its role as an established leader in serving Medicare beneficiaries.

CorSolutions is one of three awardees chosen by CMS for the Medicare disease management demonstration. The goal of the Medicare disease management demonstration is to establish the impact of providing disease management services coupled with a prescription drug benefit on clinical and financial outcomes. The Medicare, Medicaid, and State Child Health Insurance Program Benefits Improvement and Protection Act of 2000 (BIPA) authorized the Medicare disease management demonstration. To date, disease management is available to Medicare seniors only through demonstration projects or Medicare Plus Choice managed health plans. This demonstration will care for 7,500 individuals in both treatment and control groups and will have a three-year duration.
