) Secretary, disclosed plans to enhance Florida's disease management program to healthcare industry leaders at the Disease Management Association of America's Annual Conference In a speech to more than 250 healthcare industry executives, Alan Levine, Secretary of The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), disclosed recommendations made in a report on Florida disease management programs developed by CorSolutions, the nation's leading health intelligence and solutions company with more than a decade experience in disease management. CorSolutions was chosen by the Agency to review the state's Medicaid Medicaid, national health insurance program in the United States for low-income persons; established in 1965 with passage of the Social Security Amendments and now run by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  disease management programs and provide counsel on the scope and organization of Florida disease management based on industry trends, best practices, nationally-recognized expert opinions and surveys of other states.

Among the recommendations contained in the report were to:

--Increase disease management participation through mandatory enrollment;

--Structure the disease management initiative along disease lines rather than geographic boundaries in order to capture the benefits of serving individuals with similar medical conditions See carpal tunnel syndrome, computer vision syndrome, dry eyes and deep vein thrombosis. ;

--Strengthen and standardize stan·dard·ize

Working to improve access to affordable, quality health care to all Floridians, the state Agency for Health Care Administration administers Florida's $14 billion Medicaid program, licenses and regulates more than 32,000 health care facilities and 28 health maintenance organizations, and publishes health care data and statistics.
