Copycat photo swaps Merthyr and Manhattan.

IS IT New York - or just a building site in downtown Merthyr Tydfil? It might look like these builders are at the top of a Manhattan skyscraper, but this eye-catching picture was actually taken on a construction site in South Wales to promote the Macmillan's World's Largest Coffee Morning event.

They appear to be hundreds of feet up in the air, but these workers at the Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr, are all backing the cancer charity with their feet firmly on the ground.

The photo stunt was organised by construction company Willmott Dixon which is building a new pounds 2.2m cancer treatment unit at the hospital - a centre largely funded by the Macmillan charity.

Building work should take around nine months to complete and it is hoped that the unit will open next spring.

It will provide chemotherapy treatment and support for patients in Cynon Valley, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhymney Valley, Caerphilly and Powys.

The Macmillan World's Largest Coffee Mornings are being staged UK-wide on Friday, September 25 and is the biggest annual fundraising event for the cancer charity.
