Copter crash pilot named.

A pilot who died after his helicopter crashed into a field in Warwickshire last week has been named by police.

Denis Woodgates, aged 57, of Woodlands St Mary, Hungerford, Berkshire, died from multiple injuries after his Robinson R22 helicopter fell from the sky at Wilmcote near Stratford-upon-Avon last Thursday afternoon.

His name was released following a post-mortem examination which was carried out at Warwick Hospital by a consultant aviation pathologist from the Royal Air Force Department of Aviation Pathology.

An inquest into the death will be opened and adjourned by Coroner Michael Coker in Leamington Spa today.
