Cops: We're still hunting shop killer.


POLICE said they were still trying to catch the killer of a Birmingham shopkeeper at the close of an inquest three years after his death.

Mohammed Basharat, aged 24, pictured, was gunned down in the Supermalt store, in Villa Road, Lozells, by a masked man brandishing a sawnoff shotgun.

The married dad-of-two suffered horrific injuries from the single shot and died hours later in City Hospital, on November 26, 2006.

 resumed the inquest at Birmingham Coroner's Court yesterday.

The coroner recorded a verdict of unlawful killing In English law unlawful killing is a verdict that can be returned by an inquest in England and Wales. The verdict means that a death was caused by another person, without lawful excuse and in breach of the criminal law, in other words homicide. .
