The company today announced the launch of its CopperChannel(TM) Program, an initiative that enables selected channel partners to resell Copper Mountain's complete product line of CopperEdge(R) and OnPrem(TM) DSL concentrators, CopperRocket(R) customer premise equipment (CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.

) and integrated access devices An IAD is a customer premises device that provides access to wide area networks and the Internet. Specifically, it aggregates multiple channels of information including voice and data across a single shared access link to a carrier or service provider PoP (Point of Presence).  (IADs), as well as Copper Mountain's CopperView(TM) network management system and its customer-support services such as project management and installation. Service provider customers will benefit from local sales representatives, and receive a high degree of customized service that is expected to help expedite commercial rollout.

The CopperChannel program will create a two-tier network of authorized partners: "DoubleDiamond," the premier partner distinction, is reserved for companies that lead the DSL market in all categories. "Diamond," the next level of distinction, is reserved for "best-in-class" partners -- those who are either focused on one specific market or technological aspect of the DSL industry, or who cover a specific geographical area. CopperChannel partners are expected to bring experience and skills in communications systems integration and remote access connectivity, and to augment Copper Mountain hardware and software solutions with optional services such as network consultation, installation, integration of products into the customer's environment, financing, and business planning.

The first U.S. partner to join Copper Mountain's CopperChannel program at the "Double Diamond" level is Source Technology of Waltham, Massachusetts One of the early centers of the Industrial Revolution in northern America, Waltham is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 59,226 at the 2000 census. . "Our customers want the flexibility to build their networks with innovative solutions from market leading equipment manufacturers," said John DeDonato, director of Marketing at Source Technology. "Copper Mountain's wide interoperability with DSL networking solutions from other top companies in the industry makes Copper Mountain's CopperEdge and OnPrem DSL concentrators and CopperRocket CPE and IADs an ideal fit for our customers."

"The CopperChannel Program is expected to provide new sales channels for Copper Mountain's DSL solutions," added Charles Nieman, vice president of worldwide sales at Copper Mountain Networks. "Our CopperChannel partners will extend Copper Mountain's reach domestically and internationally by reselling Copper Mountain products and services to independent telecommunications companies, CLECs, DSL service providers in the multi-tenant unit (MTU (1) (Maximum Transmission Unit, Maximum Transfer Unit) The largest frame size that can be transmitted over the network. For example, an Ethernet MTU is 1,500 bytes. Messages longer than the MTU must be divided into smaller frames. ) and multi-dwelling unit (MDU (1) (Multiple Dwelling Unit) A commercial or residential building with multiple offices or apartments. To support its CopperChannel partners, Copper Mountain has developed a CopperChannel Sales and Technical Education program, a Web-based customer support site called CopperCSO(TM), and a CopperChannel Web site that provides information on joint marketing programs, pricing, presentations, promotions, and more.
