Coping With Alopecia androgenetic alopecia  a progressive, diffuse, symmetric loss of scalp hair, believed due to a combination of genetic predisposition and increased response of hair follicles to androgens, in men beginning around age 30 with hair loss from the vertex and frontoparietal regions (male pattern a. or male pattern baldness), and in females beginning later with less severe hair loss in the frontocentral area of the scalp.
