Cop on bail after rape quiz.

A WEST Midlands police West Midlands Police is the Home Office police force responsible for policing the metropolitan county of West Midlands in England.

The 29-year-old from Birmingham was quizzed by detectives at Solihull police station about the alleged incident - said to have taken place while he was off-duty - following his arrest on Monday afternoon.

After being interviewed the serving officer has been released on police bail and is expected to return to a West Midlands police station in the next four weeks. He has also been suspended from all police duties.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "The officer has been released on bail and has been suspended from duty, pending further inquiries." As a matter of procedure the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

A spokesman said: "The IPCC See IMS Forum.  has received a referral from West Midlands Police regarding the conduct of an off-duty officer following an allegation of rape. The force is undertaking a criminal investigation into this allegation, and the IPCC has decided to return this matter to the West Midlands Police for their investigation to continue."
