They are often liberal arts colleges or universities. with major donations to Grambling University and Southern University, the two schools that compete each year at the State Farm Bayou Classic. The highly anticipated event is the largest and oldest of the HBCU HBCU Historically Black Colleges and Universities football classics, attracting more than 70,000 fans from across the nation. After the historic gridiron battle between the Grambling Tigers and the Southern University Jaguars, which takes place Saturday, November 25, at the Louisiana Super Dome, Coors, a co-sponsor of the event, will present each school with a check for $10,000 for scholarships for deserving students.
