Management, the new system was mentioned as one of seven innovative devices likely to enhance capabilities in gynecology.

Nearly 650,000 hysterectomies are performed in the United States annually. While 75 percent are currently done using the abdominal technique, vaginal and laproscopic methods are becoming more popular as they have demonstrated shorter recovery times and patient stays.

Adding the KOH Colpotomizer component to the patented RUMI System overcomes several current limitations in minimally invasive hysterectomy, giving surgeons another operative alternative.

While the RUMI increases anatomical exposure and access, the KOH Colpotimizer visualizes anatomical landmarks that enable the surgeon to proceed with greater confidence and accuracy. Improved patient outcomes can result from the KOH Colpotomizer System as it can shorten operative time and enhance patient safety.

The new system also offers added convenience allowing use with any popular surgical power sources including electrocautery electrocautery /elec·tro·cau·tery/ (-kaw´ter-e) an apparatus for surgical dissection and hemostasis, using heat generated by a high-voltage, high-frequency alternating current passed through an electrode. , ultrasound and laser, and in keeping with concerns for increased cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety from blood born pathogens, employs a hybrid design that can use either reusable or disposable components.
