Kaparel/Rittal announces the introduction of the new RiCool II blowers being installed in their AdvancedTCA(R) Shelf. The major difference between traditional and the new generation of telecommunications equipment is greater heat release and a large footprint. AdvancedTCA(R) Shelves are targeting 2.8KW for a 14-slot shelf and 3.2KW for a 16-slot shelf resulting in equipment frames with a total release of over 10KW.

The RiCool II blower was designed for higher heat generating boards in applications for the Kaparel/Rittal AdvancedTCA(R) Shelf. Its predecessor the RiCool I was designed for VMEbus and CompactPCI applications with heat loss factors from 30W up to 70W/slot (21-slots).

RiCool II is positioned for the AdvancedTCA(R) Shelf applications with heat loss of 200W/slot to move air effectively and efficiently through densely packed subracks using only 1U of rack height. The RiCool II is available in 48V for the Kaparel/Rittal AdvancedTCA(R) Shelf and is hot swappable See hot swap.  for fast and easy maintenance.
