Cool Coding From Linx This Christmas.

At their dairy production facility in Yeovil, Somerset, Yoplait Dairy Crest produce ice creams and chilled and frozen desserts for major national supermarket own-brands such as Safeway, Waitrose and Tesco. The unit also manufactures for smaller local brands such as Hunts of Sherborne.

To match the productivity and adaptability of their production processes the dairy have selected Linx, tel:[phone], printers for their coding requirements. Yoplait Dairy Crest have purchased 20 Linx 6200S CIJ printers and use them exclusively at Yeovil.

Most of the Linx printers are used with a static printhead but three of the units are used with traversing head installations. The traversing head units were constructed on-site by the engieering staff at Yeovil with specialist input from Linx. The units are pneumatically powered and are used on trifle filling lines where there is a requirement to fill desserts four at a time prior to packing. The setup allows four different messages to be printed on the products. Switches above the pots instruct the 6200 to code the programmed message that includes flavour as well as 'best before' date and batch code.

The CIJ printers at Yoplait Dairy Crest have to print onto a variety of substrates: foil, plastic and card. The dairy have recently started to use Linx plastic adherent ink, as this has good performance at lower temperatures and gives consistent, superior results on all their packaging media.
