Cooking Backyard to Backcountry is an excellent choice for cooks of all skill and experience levels, and includes a wealth of practical information and instructions to balance its step-by-step recipes. "Lump charcoal can be ignited in the same way as briquettes, but it's best to avoid lighter fluids ... Fumes from unburned lighter fluid in cool spots can contaminate the food. You can usually light lump charcoal by piling it on top of wads of crumpled paper; this will avoid any possibility of petroleum fumes tainting the food." I don't write reviews much and am not even sure how I got to this web site, but saw this book on here that I got for Christmas, so i thought I'd give this a try. So, if anyone is listening, this book is worth the money and more. If you like to cook outdoors, this is a book you will like to have. If you have friends who like to cook outdoors--camping, fishing, and on.--then this is a practical and useful gift to give. personally, I'm trying out one recipe from each chapter and if my wife doesn't die or get sick by the end of the book, then i'm a good cook and it may be thanks to the information in this book.
