On December 3, 2005, at half past six o'clock in the evening, Mary Amanda Cooke and John Philip Godwin were united in marriage at Paris-Yates Chapel on the University of Mississippi The University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, is a public, coeducational research university located in Oxford, Mississippi. Founded in 1848, the school is composed of the main campus in Oxford and three branch campuses located in Booneville, Tupelo, and Southaven.  campus in Oxford.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael D. Cooke of Iuka. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Amanda G. Adams and the late Roy Clark Adams Sr. and Mrs. Mary H. Fisher and the late Mr. Robert David Fisher and the late Marvin D. Cooke, all of Tupelo.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Rivers Godwin, Jr. of Tupelo. He is the grandson of Mrs. Louise Godwin and the late Mr. Chauncey Rivers Godwin and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Erskine Bishop, all of Tupelo.

The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. Harry P. Daniel. Nuptial music was presented by Dr. Ray Harris, organist; Dr. Robert Riggs, violinist; Irwin Bell, violinist; Kent Overturf, viola; and Susan Gaston, cello. Soloists were Trice Warriner Sumner and Bruce Lesley.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a princess style gown in ivory featuring a strapless strap·less

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Downtown Grill on the Oxford Square, where guests were entertained by Wiley and The Checkmates.
