Cook County Looks to Avaya for Advanced Voice Systems -- Contract Valued At $17.5 Million.

:LU) at the end of September, today announced that it is providing an across-the-board upgrade to the Cook County, Illinois Cook County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. The new technology installation, scheduled for completion by February 2001, features 30 new DEFINITY(r) Enterprise Communications Servers, call center technology, voice mail solutions for 30 locations, and upgrades to existing equipment in 23 county offices. The system will help the county reduce local toll charges by millions of dollars, while providing automated announcement services and efficiently distributing calls to reduce waiting time and busy signals for county residents. " to route calls to available agents outside the local office during peak calling periods. The Avaya servers will process 15,000 calls during the peak hour of each day.

Each county office will have the same configuration, allowing employees to work at different offices with ease. Administration will be simpler and will be consolidated into fewer locations. Also, as new software technology becomes available, enhancements will be installed at all offices, keeping each office current.

The Avaya network will provide advanced voice mail options through the county's 26,000 phones, allowing county employees to better manage their daily workload and giving them the ability to record announcements that will answer some of residents' more routine questions 24 hours a day.
