AUSTIN, Texas -- JNF JNF Jewish National Fund

Takes Top Honors for Second Consecutive Year Among Jewish Groups

Jewish National Fund (JNF) -- which uses Convio to power its Web site, email marketing and online campaigns -- ranks No. 1 for Internet fundraising among environmental organizations, as well as among Jewish nonprofits for the second consecutive year. The rankings appears in The Chronicle of Philanthropy's June 10 coverage on its annual online giving survey, which is based on 2003 data from nearly 160 nonprofit organizations.

JNF -- which works to preserve and develop the land of Israel on behalf of Jewish people everywhere -- raised more than $1.15 million online in 2003. JNF's Internet partner, Convio, Inc., is the leading provider of software and services that help nonprofit organizations use the Internet to build strong constituent relationships to drive fundraising, marketing and other forms of support and participation. Convio's client roster includes a growing list of leading national and international religious organizations.

"In 1901, it was a pipe dream to collect the money to create the land of Israel," said Russell F. Robinson, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of JNF. "A dispersed Jewish community grasped the idea through the unbelievable marketing concept of a little Blue Box, collected coins around the globe and purchased the land of Israel. Today, the Jewish people are still dispersed but we have grabbed the 21st century technology, and instead of the clunk of a coin, you click the mouse and connect to Israel through JNF."

JNF has been using Convio software and services since February 2003 to expand its online constituent base, redesign and add new functionality to its Web site for more personalized communications, and also increase the site's content. Before Convio, JNF had 54,000 constituent email addresses, but today, has 153,000 -- a more than 180 percent jump. The organization also has been able to grow its Web site content more than tenfold.

Additionally, Convio enables JNF to create and send monthly email newsletters that are localized for the group's 22 regions with targeted content and messaging. JNF's Convio-powered eNewsletters have a very high open rate of 34 percent. Using Convio's tracking features and analytics tools, JNF can determine email open rates, which emails are most effective in stimulating donations, who is contributing as a result of receiving online communications and how much they are giving. Such information helps an organization assess which campaigns and tactics are most effective so they can plan accordingly in the future.

"JNF not only has an important mission, but also extraordinary leaders and staff members with vision and willingness to innovate," said Gene Austin, CEO of Convio. "Using Convio's market-leading online tools and working closely with our professionals, JNF has moved itself to the next level in attracting, motivating and retaining support, as the 2003 numbers prove for the second year in a row. JNF is a model of what is possible when there's a true partnership between a nonprofit and its eCRM company."
