With the latest release, Convergys makes Activation Manager's functionality more widely available to advanced communication services providers worldwide with new multi-byte enablement for support of multiple languages including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, as well as the software's ability to operate on a single server. In addition, this release introduces enhanced graphical user interfaces (GUI) that enable service providers to streamline provisioning, policy management and workflow processes further.

Convergys Activation Manager provides subscriber service activation and profile management on any network element. This highly flexible and scalable application supports convergent voice, IP, and cable and broadband services, as well as integrated pre- and post-paid offerings across multiple verticals.

Among the key enhancements is the addition of multi-byte enablement for full multilingual support. Convergys Activation Manager now operates in simplified Mandarin Chinese, for example, and languages such as French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish that use extended ASCII characters. Operators can use this capability to leverage multilingual employees and simplify service rollout and provisioning management in their native language.

Release 3.1's flexible, single server capability is useful to larger carriers in setting up a low-cost test environment and to smaller service providers for whom one server is adequate to manage their subscriber base. The Convergys Activation Manager can now be deployed in a single- or multi-server environment.

Other Release 3.1 enhancements expand the module's policy management capabilities with an enhanced Web GUI expression editor that operators can use to define new services and relate them to business rules to their operational processes. Newly available multiple link management and maintenance capabilities reduce operational costs and speed time-to-market for these offerings by allowing simplified and accelerated administration of network links that would otherwise have to be individually managed.

Through established application programming interfaces and toolkits, Convergys Activation Manager supports integrated voice and data environments with convergent provisioning capabilities while easily integrating with billing systems and networks. This Convergys application module automates flow-through provisioning for converged services and isolates billing systems from the complexity and details of the network. It also supports administration of service provisioning through flexible service definition, network element configuration tools, policy management rules-based transaction generation, automated load balancing across multiple devices and connections, and order prioritization and service activation workflow.
