Convergys Announces Billing/Subscriber Management Contract with ONO, Formerly Cableuropa, in Spain.

CINCINNATI Ohio, and MADRID, Spain;--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- 2 December 1998--Convergys Corporation, the global leader in providing outsourced, integrated, billing and customer support solutions, announces a contract with ONO (formerly Cableuropa), one of Spain's largest cable operators, to support its launch of the country's first integrated television, telephony, and high-speed Internet services. Convergys will license its Integrated Video, Data, and Telephony Billing and Subscriber Management solution to further enhance the cable operator's commitment to quality customer care and service.

ONO was recently successful in winning three licenses in the Valencia area of Spain which means it now has interests in 13 cable franchises in which there are more than 4 million homes. The launch of a full-scale commercial service will start with customers in the southern cities of Valencia, Murcia, Cadiz, Albacete, and Palma de Mallorca. Additional services, including digital cable television and high-speed Internet access, will follow in 1999 covering all the franchises won. The Convergys solution will support ONO with three language selections -- Spanish, Basque, or Catalan.

Since their introduction, the Convergys CableMaster and ICOMS integrated video, telephony, and high-speed data solutions have been installed in ten countries around the world, serving more than 14 million subscribers. This includes Convergys' service of nearly 30 percent of the cable subscribers in North America.
