Convergys Announces Billing/Subscriber Management Contract With Birmingham Cable in the United Kingdom.

) announces a five-year contract to license its CableMaster(R) Billing and Subscriber Management solution to Birmingham Cable to enhance Birmingham Cable's commitment to quality customer care and service.

Birmingham Cable, which is one of the largest cable franchises in the United Kingdom, serves approximately 250,000 customer accounts in Birmingham, Solihull, and Sutton Coldfield Sutton Coldfield, city (1991 pop. 102,572), Birmingham metropolitan district, central England. The city is a residential suburb of Birmingham with a metal products industry and a large television transmitting station. . The operator recently completed the main build of its underground, 100 percent fiber optic lines providing access to over 450,000 homes and businesses, offering information, cable, telephony, and data services.

"In order to provide our customers with the highest quality service, we needed a subscriber management solution that could match our future requirements as we continue to offer more and varied services to our customers," said Peter Hall, managing director for Birmingham Cable. A dedicated subscriber management team, with members from Birmingham Cable and Convergys, worked together to identify the network requirements and interface them with Convergys' CableMaster solution to meet those requirements.
