Service providers realize improved operating efficiencies through

strengthened convergent billing and new business process capabilities

The new version of ICOMS integrates the event-independent capabilities of Convergys' Geneva (tm) rating engine for Internet telephony and incorporates powerful new business process tools to provide cable and broadband service providers with enhanced support for new transaction-based offerings.

With ICOMS Release 5.0, operators can provision new services more quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively. ICOMS' Provisioning Transaction Manager (PTM) provides an automated, configurable, and open standards output to integrate with Convergys Activation Manager for real-time, flow-through provisioning, or to share data with third-party provisioning systems. This capability minimizes the time, costs, and errors associated with manually transmitting this information.

Operators using the latest version of ICOMS also have the ability to support and manage more effectively advanced customer premise equipment (CPE). These devices enable subscribers to enjoy next-generation services such as Internet telephony from the same unit through which they receive video or high-speed Internet service.

Other key ICOMS features in Release 5.0 enable operators to give customers enhanced statements and expand their ability to define and package service bundles. On a single bill, providers can demonstrate to the customer the value of these combined offerings, including bill-time threshold discounting across all services and usage on a single bill. To enhance operators' commercial account management capabilities, ICOMS now offers hierarchical billing options such as contract pricing for term-based discounts and penalties.

Also with the newest version of ICOMS, operators can accelerate service activation and eliminate the expense of a "truck roll" with network inventory management tools that pre-provision the network path to the customer premises. CSR time and costs associated with a new service configuration are similarly reduced with ICOMS' ability to distinguish clearly between types of services (e.g. analog, digital, Internet telephony, and switched) within a single service category (e.g. telephony, cable, data). Telephony support, for example, is enhanced through service configuration modeling that defines the telephone line's attributes based on the account or service type.
