Convergent Media Systems Names Jeffrey L. Freemyer CEO, Announces Corporate Realignment.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 1997--Convergent Media Systems, the world's largest provider of private business television networks, today announced the promotion of Jeffrey L. Freemyer to Chief Executive Officer.

This news follows the company's realignment into Network and Communications Solutions business units to increase focus on core competencies.

"Convergent has gained incomparable experience in helping its clients operate more efficiently and effectively through the use of business television, the Internet and other visual communications solutions," said Freemyer. "Our corporate realignment will allow us to capitalize on this experience while also increasing the value of our services. Visual communications will become even more critical to our clients as they seek to thrive in the 21st century. This is a trend we believe will result in Convergent's becoming even more widely recognized as a strategic resource by leaders of Fortune 500 companies, state governors and heads of federal agencies."

Since joining Convergent in 1986, Freemyer has held a variety of management and executive positions; most recently he served as President. Freemyer's accomplishments include acquisition of the company's top competitor, Private Satellite Network, which made Convergent the undisputed leader in business television. He was instrumental in developing the strategy that won the State of Georgia "PeachStar" distance education network and launched Convergent into the education market. Freemyer also played a key role in outsourcing relationships with K-III/Channel One Communications, Bell Atlantic Corp. and BMW of North America, seeing enormous potential in visual communications outsourcing.

Convergent pioneered the concept of business television in the U.S. in the 1980s to meet the communications challenges of major corporations. Since then, the company has leveraged its expertise in business television, the Internet and other visual communications technologies to implement solutions in the areas of organizational communications and professional development. Convergent helps its clients develop more competitive, better informed and more closely aligned teams with world-class skills.

Based in Atlanta, Convergent owns and operates Media Centers in Washington, D.C., Boston and Woodcliff Lake, N.J. Recently, Convergent established an office in London as a result of its outsourcing agreement with Visage Group Ltd., the European market leader in business television programming and communications consulting services.
