Convergent Media Systems Appoints Robert Waldrup Director of Federal Programs.

Convergent Media Systems, a leading service provider of communications network solutions for distance learning and business television, has appointed Robert Waldrup to the position of director of federal programs.

Waldrup maintains an office in Waterford, Virginia, northwest of the nation's capital.

Waldrup is responsible for enhancing Convergent's sub-contractor relationship with AT&T on its government-wide access contract (GWAC) for satellite services. Waldrup also will work closely with AT&T to identify and pursue new business in the government market, including introducing new distance learning services as they become available from Convergent.

"Over the last 20 years, Bob has gained experience in program and resource management, government and public relations, economic development, marketing, business development and human performance services," said Greg Browning, Convergent vice president of network solutions. "Bob is a consummate professional and team player, and he has proven he can be successful under challenging experiences."

Prior to joining Convergent, Waldrup provided consulting services for the Everest Group, a Dallas-based firm specializing in the management of outsourcing engagements. He was with Electronic Data Services (EDS) for nine years before that, working in the commercial insurance, human performance services and government services groups.

Waldrup retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1987, after serving more than 26 years. His last assignment was with the Air University of Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, where he served as command chief master sergeant. During his career, Waldrup accumulated more than 8,000 hours of strategic and tactical aeromedical evacuation operations worldwide. He served as vice president of public affairs for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce after retiring.
