Controllers bearish on 1992 outlook.


A quarterly survey of 3,500 members of the Institute of Management Accountants The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) is a professional organization headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey consisting of over 70,000 members worldwide. The IMA is dedicated to advancing the role of the management accountant and financial manager within the business  Controllers Council released in late April found the controllers in a gloomy gloom·y

Of the controllers polled, 92% said the economy is still in a recession. Moreover, 68% believed there will be no economic upturn in 1992. Of the 32% expecting a recovery sometime in 1992, 82% believed it would be minor.

Looking further ahead, only 50% of the controllers anticipated a recovery in 1993, and 66% of that number thought it would be minor. Although 83% said the recession would not lead to a depression, 17% said a depression is possible.
