Control Data Systems, Inc., a leading systems integrator, today announced that it will be working with Baltimore Technologies, a global leader in e-commerce and enterprise security solutions, to deliver e-business security to customers in Southern Europe Southern Europe or sometimes Mediterranean Europe is a region of the European continent. There is no clear definition of the term which can vary depending on whether geographic, cultural, linguistic or historical factors are taken into account. , including France and Benelux (Belgium and the Netherlands). This agreement follows Control Data's recent announcement of its work with Baltimore Technologies in Asia Pacific.

As a developer of some of the world's leading security technologies, Baltimore selected Control Data as an Enterprise Solution Partner because of Control Data's knowledge of the security market, its enterprise directory technology, its technical and integration expertise, and its experience deploying Baltimore products in complex enterprise environments.

This co-operation will ensure that enterprises in Europe can implement a complete e-security infrastructure based on policy driven PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) A framework for creating a secure method for exchanging information based on public key cryptography. The foundation of a PKI is the certificate authority (CA), which issues digital certificates that authenticate the identity of  technology and full strength cryptography tools. As a strategic partner, Control Data will now be in a position to supply Baltimore's UniCERT Certificate Authority system, which is used to authenticate both users and data for a range of information security needs.
