), developer of SafeBoot(R) solutions and a market leader in mobile data encryption technology, and Real User Corporation, developers of Passfaces(TM) cognometric authentication products, announced today an agreement which gives CBI the right to integrate Real User's patented cognometric authentication technology into SafeBoot solutions. The agreement, announced at the 2004 Infosecurity Conference and Exhibition in New York, enables CBI to offer SafeBoot customers the option to use the Passfaces system to replace passwords or reinforce them as a strong, secondary authenticator for PCs, laptops, tablet PCs and Palm PDAs.

Passwords, a primary means of personal authentication for systems, networks and applications, remain a weak link in IT security because they are vulnerable to dictionary, "brute-force," guessing, phishing and other social engineering attacks. The absence of a reliable, secure authentication See authentication token and SecurID card.  system can cost businesses, infrastructure providers and government agencies billions of dollars annually in fraud, support costs and productivity losses. Also, forgotten passwords remain the number one cause of Help Desk calls.

Based on humans' innate ability to remember and recognize faces, Passfaces(TM) cognometric authentication technology eliminates human-related security vulnerabilities as a replacement for passwords and PINs, both knowledge-based authenticators. As a strong, "second factor" authenticator, it provides a quantifiable level of additional entropy out of the box on all GUI-enabled systems. The Passfaces system works intuitively, and it does not require the installation of complex software or additional hardware. It is instantly scalable, can be rapidly deployed, and costs much less than other authentication solutions.

"Real User's innovative Passfaces technology greatly enhances SafeBoot's leading-edge security solutions by providing a high-entropy authentication system The combination of authentication server and authenticator, which may be separate devices or both reside in the same unit such as an access point or network access server. The authentication server contains a database of user names, passwords and policies, and the authenticator physically  and improving usability and reliability of access," said Gerhard Waztinger, COO of Control Break International. "Our partnership with Real User and the integration of intuitive Passfaces technology offers SafeBoot customers a practical alternative to passwords for access to their mobile data environment and is a perfect complement to CBI's powerful data encryption technology."

"We are very pleased to announce this partnership with Control Break International," said Real User Chief Executive Officer Paul Barrett. "The integration of our Passfaces cognometric authentication technology with CBI's market-leading SafeBoot data encryption products is an important step in fulfilling Real User's mission to establish Passfaces as the natural successor to passwords and PINs."

With more than two million users, SafeBoot is revolutionizing the world of data encryption with the largest installed base of any mobile device encryption technology. Control Break International's flagship technologies, SafeBoot Device Encryption and SafeBoot Content Encryption, provide state-of-the-art encryption technology for PCs, laptops, tablet PCs, PDAs and other handheld devices. SafeBoot solutions are integrated into a centralized administrator console that enables security personnel to manage security protocol efficiently.
