@ Issue: Provide provocative opinion pieces in this section. Just contact Scott Douglas with the idea and he can tell you when and how it can fit in.

Leave It Better Than You Found It: This is a monthly section where we highlight how parks and recreation have improved something, such as the environment or the health of a community or person. These stories show the benefits of parks and recreation. The emphasis of the one-page column is on a visual representation of how the subject was improved; therefore, high-quality photos are a must. The column usually has just a couple of paragraphs of text to provide context for the images. Contact Scott Douglas with your ideas.

Miscellaneous Features: Parks & Recreation publishes features that educate or inform park, recreation or tourism professionals as well as the educators and citizens that support them. The Great Parks series highlights local, state and national parks This is a list of national parks ordered by nation. Africa

: This is the monthly section where NRPA supports the efforts of its various branches, sections and programs. This is where leadership shares its vision, short educational pieces that relate to branch or membership needs are published, and branches can acknowledge best practices. Articles run from 200 to 700 words. Send ideas directly to the branch liaisons, a listing of which can be found on p. 75.

Regional Report: This is the monthly section to recognize specific members who have won awards or changed jobs. Also you can recognize a best practice here or promote a meeting that you think would benefit NRPA members. Articles run about 200 to 600 words. Send updates, press releases and information to Susan Kalish at skalish@ nrpa.org.

Power Play: This is a monthly Q&A with a recognized figure who supports our mission. A celebrity, sports figure, politician or anyone who you would say is "famous" for something other than parks and recreation. Contact Scott Douglas with leads to famous parks and recreation supporters.
