UOP has appointed C.P. Hall worldwide distributor of its rubber antiozonants. The agreement is said to enhance UOP's ability to supply quality antiozonants to the rubber and associated industries.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber, in an effort to consolidate and streamline overhead expenses, folded one of its separate units, Kelly-Springfietd Tire, into the company.

Atemco announced the formation of a technical and, engineering agreement with King's Tyre Limited of Lahore, Pakistan. The recent introduction of a passenger radial tire in the Pakistan market was the result of Atemco assistance in supplying equipment and expertise from their technical and engineering departments.

Continental General Tire was named the sole original equipment source of medium radial truck tires for all Eagle trailers produced by Transcraft at its Mt. Sterling, KY plant.

Bridgestone and the Associated Cement Companies Limited announced the signing of a joint venture agreement in Bombay, India. Bridgestone and A-CC will set up a tire manufacturing and sales joint venture to be called Bridgestone ACC India Limited. Bridgestone will hold a 51% interest, and ACC will hold the remainder, along with Tara Engineering and Locomotive Co. Ltd. Bridgestone ACC India Limited plans to build a manufacturing facility near Indore in Madhya Pradesh, India, where it will produce radial tires incorporating Bridgestone technology for passenger cars and small vans starting in early 1998. The full capacity of the plant, which will be the Bridgestone Group's 37th tire plant worldwide, is projected to be near 20 tons of rubber per day, or approximately 1.9 million tires per year. Capital investment in the project is expected to total-approximately $100 million.

Uniroyal Chemical completed its transaction with Industrias Negromex, S.A. de C.V., which will expand Uniroyal Chemical's acrylonitrile butadiene rubber business and make it the sole producer of NBR in Mexico. This transaction includes a long-term manufacturing agreement for Negromex to produce NBR exclusively for Uniroyal Chemical, utilizing Uniroyal Chemical's process technology at Negromex's manufacturing facility in' Tampico, Mexico. Uniroyal produces Paracril NBR at its ISO certified 20,000 ton production facility located in Painesville, OH.

Carl Schenck AG, Darmstadt, Germany and Instron, Canton, MA have signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture corporation in the area of structural test systems.

Oakite/Chemetell has chosen Akron Rubber Development Laboratory, an independent testing laboratory in,. Akron, OH, to provide a rubber-to-metal testing service for the customers of Oakite/Chemetall's Megum products. ARDL has extensive experience in rubber-to-metal bonding.

Measurex announced that Extrusion Systems has signed an agreement to market and service Measurex's ConceptOne system in Canada. Extrusion Systems will market the ConceptOne system to sheet, film and foam extrusion and extrusion coating producers in the provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The ConceptOne is an on-line gauging and control system for sheet, film and web processes.

Worldwide Rubber Recycling of Kansas City, MO has announced plans to merge its operations with those of Recycled Rubber Resources of Macon, MO. The combined companies will operate under the name of Recycled Rubber Resources, with operations and offices in Macon and Grandview, MO.

DSM Elastomers BV, a DSM business group involved in synthetic rubbers, has reached agreement with the Brazilian company Nitriflex S.A. Industria e Comercio on the takeover of its EPDM plant. This plant is located at the petrochemical pool in Triunfo in Southeast Brazil, from where it obtains its raw materials, and has a capacity of over 15,000 tpa which can be substantially expanded with limited, investments. Nitriflex's EPDM sales amount to $30 million and more than 50% of the output is sold to the local market. DSM and BP Chemicals have signed an option agreement enabling DSM to purchase a license for the use of BP Chemicals' Innovene polyethylene gas-phase technology. This technology will enable DSM to produce C6 linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) for the European market.

Montell International and Xenel Industries have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the establishment of two joint venture projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The first proposed project, to be known as Alfasel (national propylene producing company) would construct and operate a facility in the City of Madinat Yanbu Al-Sinai Yah. The second proposed project, to be known as Teldene (national polypropylene company) would construct and operate a facility adjacent to Alfasel for the production of polypropylene resin.
