Contractors Association working with ERRA voice concern over delay in payments.

ABBOTABAD, November 14, 2009 (Balochistan Times): A meeting of the Contractors Association Abbotabad working with ERRA was held here on Saturday to voice concern over delay in payments of funds that could hamper the on-going uplift projects in the earthquake-hit areas of Mansehra Division. President of the Association Muhammad Anwar Abbasi, Vice President Jamal Khan, GS Anwar Khan and other contractors were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, members of the association said that the contractors community working with Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) was facing many problems and delay in payments was the major one. The association complained that Director General PERRA was on foreign visit and his powers were vested with Commissioner Hazara Division yet unnecessary delay in the release of funds was causing problems for the contractors. They feared that due to non-release of funds many on-going uplift projects could be halted adding that the contractors of Mansehra, Kohistan and Batagram were also facing similar problems. The speakers warned of launching protest campaign if their funds were not released on time, which could affect many incomplete developmental projects in the earthquake affected areas.
