Contract Awarded for Residential Soundproofing Near LAX.City and Business Editors LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 2000 The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded a not-to-exceed $1,195,000 contract to P.B.C. of El Segundo, Calif., for residential soundproofing Soundproofing is any means of reducing the intensity of sound with respect to a specified source and receptor. The contract covers sound insulation modifications on 58 units in 40 buildings located in the Los Angeles communities of Westchester and Playa del Rey. This contract award brings the total number of homes completed or in the process of soundproofing construction to 1,040. The residences are outfitted with dual-paned windows, solid-core doors, attic insulation, and other necessary soundproofing improvements.
