Contract Award for Upgrading of SCA -- Societe Du Craqueur De L'Aubette -- Ethylene Plant at Berre, France.

Technip-Coflexip (NYSE:TKP)(Euronext 13170) has been awarded a contract by SCA -- a joint venture between Shell Petrochimie Mediterranee (SPM) and Basell -- to improve the performance of its steamcracker located at Berre Petrochemical Site, in the south of France.

The contract calls for modifications of front-end and back-end facilities of the steamcracker, based on Technip-Coflexip's proprietary technologies.

The aim of the whole project covered by this contract is to make the plant more flexible, and to reduce the emissions of combustion gasses per ton of raw material treated in the steamcracker.

The Technip-Coflexip proprietary steamcracking technologies to be used in this project are particularly well suited for boosting the flexibility and efficiency of existing ethylene production plants such as the one in Berre, while also ensuring a remarkable reduction in effluents and waste streams.

Supply technologies and engineering services will be handled by the Group's engineering centers at The Hague in The Netherlands, and in Lyon, France, with support from the Group's ethylene conceptual specialists in Paris.

Work is expected to be completed in March 2004.
