"Continuous mixing - developments and future trends" is the title of a seminar to be presented by the Deutsches Institut fur Kautschuktechnologie E.V. (DKG) on December 10-11 at the Maritim Stadthotel in Hannover, Germany.

This seminar will present a review of recent developments and research activities, as well as an insight into new concepts and future trends in the field of continuous rubber mixing. It will cover a wide range of topics concerning available raw (composite) materials, suitable processing equipment and machinery, experimental studies and economical aspects.

This seminar is aimed at engineers, technicians and material researchers involved in designing rubber compounds and the corresponding mixing technology. It will give background information and an extensive overview on topical advances in the development of the continuous rubber compounding process, according to the sponsor.

Topics covered during this continuous mixing seminar will include the following: Continuous mixing, a challenging opportunity; theoretical considerations of the mixing process; continuous mixing of rubber - technology, economical efficiency and results; elastomeric composite produced with continuous liquid phase mixing; production and application of silica loaded powder rubber systems based on ESBR; twin-screw rubber mixing and extrusion concepts; new developments in the extrusion and mixing technology of rubber compounds; a new single-rotor continuous mixer; optimizing the continuous mixing process of natural rubber compounds on the twin-screw extruder; processing advantages of the extruder-gear pump system; and modern on-line control of the factory mixing process.

At the end of the workshop, the continuous mixing process of powder rubber will be demonstrated on the twin-screw extruder.
